MANAGER PILOTS – PORT OF TOWNSVILLE LIMITED (POTL)

Port of Townsville Limited owns and manages the Ports of Townsville and Lucinda in North Queensland which are vital trade gateways for Northern Australia, handling around $10 billion worth of cargo each year.  The Port of Townsville is the country’s largest sugar, molasses, zinc, lead, copper and fertiliser port, and the largest container, general cargo and automotive port in Northern Australia.  The Port is currently completing a significant program of capital investments to increase capacity and efficiency, with plans for further major expansions to cater for the next 30 years of trade growth in the region.  

Reporting to the General Manager Operations the primary function of the Manager Pilots is to manage and deliver pilot services in the Townsville region, including the Ports of Townsville, Lucinda and Abbot Point. The position leads a highly skilled professional team that works a 24-hour 7 day a week roster and while based in Townsville some travel within the Region may be expected.

The motivated professional we are seeking will have:

  • The holder of a valid Master Class 1 Certificate, (STCW95) recognised by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), held a pilot’s licence or the ability to obtain a pilot’s licence in Queensland.
  • Experience in a senior position on a seagoing vessel, and/or an experienced Marine Pilot.  
  • Minimum five years of leadership/managerial experience, preferably within a port or operational environment.
  • Demonstrated abilty to successfully lead and manage a highly skilled professional team to deliver safe and efficient services within agreed priorities and budgets;
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully liaise with external regulatory agencies, customers and internal and external stakeholders
