About the Webinar

Getting into the maritime industry and growing your career is hard work. There will be times where you feel you are not achieving your full potential or are at a crossroads in your career and don’t know which path to take. You will probably find times here you are working harder and harder but with little noticeable rewards for your efforts. Worse still you may have periods where you start to struggle with self-confidence or have feelings of isolation.

Wouldn't it be nice to have someone to be there for you, guiding you along the way in your career? Someone who would be a safe and trusted sounding board for you? Someone who can help you to unlock your full potential allowing you to flourish?

This is what mentoring is about and why it is something every should consider having a mentor.

Darren McFarlane, director of Next Level Mentoring, will be running a webinar session of for those who are taking part in the Australian Maritime Mentoring Program as a mentee or for members who are interested in taking part in the program as a mentee.

The agenda is

  • Introduction to Next Level Mentoring
  • What is mentoring
  • Benefits of mentoring.
  • Key skills for a mentor
  • Next steps
  • Q&A

Darren will also share stories of his own key learnings from mentoring during the webinar and there will be plenty of time at the end of the session for question and answers.

About Darren

Darren started his career as a technical safety engineer in the Oil and Gas industry and then grew into various leadership positions. This includes being the Australian country manager for a 14,000 employee Norwegian Oil and Gas services company and Global Operations Manager for a data tech start-up.

Darren is fortunate to have been involved in companies that put a high value on leadership development programs which included successful in-house mentoring and coaching programs. He had the opportunity in these companies to firstly be a mentee to some inspirational leaders and then to give back to the next wave of future leaders through formal mentoring and running leadership training.

In 2020, Darren decided to put more time into truly following his passion of helping others reach their career goals with the same opportunities that he had, with focus on helping more people get into mentoring.  The outcome of this was the establishment of Next Level Mentoring.
