Importance of Manned Models in Training
Andrew commenced his maritime career as a Deck Cadet with Howard Smith Shipping in 1983.
From 1987 until July 1996 he sailed as a Deck Officer in the Tankers and Bulk Carriers of the Howard Smith fleet, and obtained his Master Class 1 Certificate of Competency in March 1993.
Andrew obtained his first command in the Howard Smith fleet in February 1995.
In August 1997 he commenced employment as a Marine Pilot with the Newcastle Port Corporation spending the last 12 years as a Check Pilot, and relieved in the position of Acting Harbour Master for the Port of Newcastle on occasion.
In July 2014 Andrew commenced employment with Port Ash Australia as General Manager.
His presentation will explore the use of manned models for ship handling training with specific focus on the use of manned models for CPD training for emergencies and contingencies during shiphandling operations.
