Dispelling the myths surrounding transfer by Hoist
Peter Emslie enlisted in the Australian Army in 1984 as an Avionics Technician providing servicing and repair to the Australian Army’s helicopter and fixed wing fleet. He worked in Army Aviation during the transition into service of the S-70A-9 Blackhawk helicopter and was quickly identified for promotion and instructional duties at the Army Aviation Training Centre.
Peter graduated from pilot training in 1995 flying UH-1H and awarded Dux of Flying for his performance. During Peter’s military flying career he was deployed on operations in support of both peace keeping and warlike flying activities. Peter, for his performance in this specialist field, was awarded Army Aviator of the year in 2006 and received the Chief of Army’s commendation.
Post military retirement Peter has worked with Kellogg Brown and Root, Babcock and Queensland Government Air Rescue in the provision of Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). Peter is currently the Chief Pilot Aviator Group.
